Celebrities live on planes. And, unlike the rest of us, there’s usually paparazzi waiting to snap their pics at baggage claim when they land—which that means for stars, mere leggings and velour track-suits (though tempting) just won’t cut it at the airport.

Though I personally love traveling (the Sagittarius in me), I also know that wearing my favorite 4-inch platforms and tightest skinny jeans for a 6-hour flight in a seat smaller than my bathroom sink is  not be a good idea.

So how to look chic in our cheap seats this holiday travel season without compromising style or comfort? Just take inspiration from these well-dressed stars, who log major jet setter miles while still looking cool at the gate.

1) Black and White Stripes Look Sharp

Black and white dressing is so easy you can do it with you eyes closed (which might happen if you have a pre-dawn departure). By integrating a strong stripes into layers, like the airport-friendly styles from Splendid, you can create a look that’s effortlessly cool and terribly comfy.

2) Military Styles Command Attention

Military looks are big this season, and stars like the styles—from trim jackets to tough boots to accessories—since they trend to travel well and look polished in almost any setting. Top a pea coat jacket with a cadet hat to camouflage a bad hair day, and head straight from the airport to your final destination in style.

3) Celebrity Check-list for Carrying-On: Big Bag and Sexy Sunglasses

An oversized black catch-all bag like Kim Kardhashian’s Givenchy sac will survive airport travel and still look great later on land. And no celebrity, or any holiday traveler for that matter, should ever leave home without a huge pair of oversize sunglasses to block out sunlight or that pesky seatmate's reading light
