I had barely digested my Thanksgiving dinner, when my inbox revealed not one, but two holiday party invites. Suddenly, I found myself flipping through my mental rolodex of “fancy” dresses, skirts, and tops, searching frantically for the ones that I could  “get away with” wearing yet again. Did I really care if the majority of my social circle had seen these pieces before? After all, I’ve reinvented them time and time again depending on the occasion: a dress with a faded jean jacket and boots for a birthday picnic, the same dress paired with platform heels and loads of jewelry for an evening wedding. Sure, I could do it again, but the problem isn’t that my friends have seen it all before; it’s that I’ve seen it all before.  Time for a fashion pick-me-up.

So, to relinquish myself of spending guilt (and to save a little to shop for others this season) I set some limits and began a little hunting. which proved not so challenging in the end. This season is possibly one of the most glamorous we’ve seen in some time. With metallics, beading, sequins and embellishments of every variety out in full force, there are plenty choices that look much more luxe than their prices would imply. The results of my research are listed below: all of these pieces are under $100, extremely versatile and have wardrobe mileage way beyond New Year's Eve.

1. Kenneth Jay Lane Ring (buy it now price, $50.99) What says party more than a disco ball? This one comes in miniature for your finger. The gunmetal finish gives it a little edge.

2. French Connection Sequin Dress (buy it now price, $74.99) Worn layered as a tunic or as a mini dress with tights, this swirling pattern of multi colored sequins needs little else.  

3. Steve Madden Silver Pumps (buy it now price $39.99) Very Twiggy-era, 60’s mod-cool—and the closed toe is great for chilly nights.

4. Felix Rey Clutch (buy it now price, $69.99) Metal mesh looks totally modern in black. This clutch, complete with a leopard-lined interior, will hold everything you need for a night out.

5. Tory Burch Gold Top (buy it now price, $69)  A gorgeous gold finish that manages to make a typically demure silhouette entirely sexy. 

6. Rachel Roy Black Trousers (buy it now price, $79.95) Fashion darling Rachel Roy cuts a perfect trouser. These pair well with a festive top and just about anything you own after the party circuit is over.

7. Nine West Strappy Sandals (buy it now price, $54.95) Elegant t-straps, a vibrant color and with a heel you can still walk in.

8. Beaded Evening Bag (buy it now price, $7.99) The delicate black beading on this handbag feels very 1920’s flapper party girl.  The long chain strap will keep your hands free for drinks and dancing.

9. J Crew Necklace (buy it now price, $59.99) Glass crystals add a little sparkle without being intrusive, while the extra chain length will flatter just about any neckline  

10. Chain Link Bracelet (buy it now price, $11.96) Black enamel provides a striking contrast with traditional gold in this already bold bracelet.
