eBay's "You Can't Fake Fashion" Returns

You Can't Fake Fashion

eBay has every reason to want to crack down on counterfeiting. Given that a designer handbag is sold every 16 seconds on the online marketplace, it's in eBay's best interest to continue to serve as a trusted source for authentic accessories (and all kinds of fashion). Further, the folks at eBay believe in protecting both their customers and the designers whose intellectual property is at stake when fakes are bought and sold. And they also understand the positive role the company can help play in exposing the criminal activities associated with the sale of counterfeit goods—from child labor to drug trafficking.

"You Can't Fake Fashion," eBay's partnership with the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America), was born out of a desire to raise awareness against counterfeiting and to celebrate original design. Now in its second year, the campaign has grown to include a collection of canvas totes, pictured above, in four chic styles. A limited edition run of these totes will be available for sale alongside one-of-a-kind totes customized by 75 top designers. Among the participating talents: Diane von Furstenberg, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger and Betsey Johnson.

Starting tomorrow, the collection can be previewed at a Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week exhibit at Lincoln Center. They'll go on sale here on March 20.
