Where the Wild Things Are
The highly anticipated film, Where the Wild Things Are, finally, after what it seems like an eternity, opens today. Skeptics have postulated that director Spike Jonze could not do it, especially when rumors of the frought production spread through Hollywood like wildfire. I have always been hopeful--especially after Jonze appeared in the NY Times Magazine, pictured hugging the film’s young Max, actor Max Records (and coincidentally every photo I have seen of Jonze and Records has been equally tender). It was clear to me that the film, like the classic book, had a lot of heart. The early reviews are in, and the hard-to-win-over NY Times has declared it a winner. I love the story so much that I breathed a slight sigh of relief when I read the review. I would have gnashed my teeth if it had been anything but glowing. Can’t wait to see it on the big screen.
