Style Blog Star to Watch Linlee Allen's New Year's Shopping Resolutions
Australian gal in Los Angeles, Linlee Allen has one of the coolest under-the-radar, over-the-top style blogs there is: Delinlee Delovely. “My blog is a visual diary of my day-to-day life, interests, inspirations, discoveries, travels, aspirations and so on,” Linlee Allen said. It’s also deliciously celebrity-filled. Matt Dillon, January Jones, Woody Harrelson, Pharrell, Julian Schnabel, John Waters, Rufus Wainwright, Eve and Quincy Jones all make casual, off-the-red carpet appearances at art openings and other private affairs amongst Californian street scenes and snaps from vintage markets.
“The best thing to have come from [the blog] would be the offers of press trips,” says Linlee Allen. “Lately, I have been receiving offers to photograph hotels in France and Africa! It’s a great indication that when I stopped focusing primarily on street style images, it was probably a good idea. Let’s face it; nobody can top Scott Schuman or Garance Dore.”
In 2011, fashion blogger Linlee Allen will launch her own company, an extension of her style blog, a PR and consulting business with a stable of five clients—a fashion label, an accessory brand, a hotel, a restaurant and an art gallery. “I like the idea of multi-tasking different subjects/areas/genres and really believe it’s no longer about one primary target, be it fashion or beauty or hospitality. It’s about riding a wave and realizing the mission. I’m the one who connects the dots and proposes an innovative approach to spreading the word.”

To celebrate the launch of her business, Linlea Allen may reward herself with some accessories from Jewelry designer Irene Neuwirth. “I adore her work and she’s a great L.A. woman whose style is captivating. Plus she’s funny as hell!” As for her new year’s shopping resolutions, Allen declares: “Guilt-free shopping. If I really want it, then I deserve it. I work hard. I’ve earned it. Shopping has always been a spontaneous act for me.”
Linlee Allen has shopped eBay since 2008. (“Late bloomer” she says.) The style blogger's first purchase was a black-and-white photograph of Orson Welles for $10. These days she shops mostly for movie memorabilia, fashion accessories and beauty products. She has snapped up a skirt, once worn by Joan Collins on "Dynasty" and authentic Flamenco hats to sport around the streets of Beverly Hills. “I may look like a freak to people in L.A. walking around with this [traditional Spanish hat] on instead of a Nike cap like everyone else, but do I care? No.”
Linlee Allen, who also writes for the New York Times' T magazine and Style.com, has just finished a collage for her favorite men’s magazine out of Athens, Greece: Dapper Dan. The 36-year-old creative is clearly in the trendspotting business. So what’s her style forecast for 2011? “More prints, more headpieces, more colored socks, more flesh and definitely more curves (toned curves at that).”
“Because I've recently been sourcing rare interviews with her and really, for me, she's up there at the top of my list alongside such greats as Anna Magnani and Eleanor Roosevelt when it comes to inspiring women. I particularly love this photo—always a great angle for any woman.” “Who doesn't want a pair of red shoes to get up to mischief in this season?” “Truly, madly, deeply one of the best publications in existence at the moment, filled with fascinating contributions from bona fide living legends.” “One of the most underrated accessories of all time: a funky sock shows a funky disposition, and without that, you're screwed. It’s one of my 2011 resolutions to source a great pair of socks for my wardrobe every couple of months.” “I saw this in early 2010 and really loved it. It’s important to me that I have a solid collection of inspiring documentaries in my DVD collection, especially for guests staying at my house when they are jet lagged and want some time alone. My home is their home and if I can inspire them with time-out viewing, then I'm happy.” “To help get me in the mood for my four-week holiday exploring the Greek islands in 2011!” “I admit I'm obsessed with these two—next to Liz Taylor and Richard Burton, they're my iconic couple in love.” “A Christmas present for my god-daughter, Gloria, in Australia.” “I may look like a freak to people in L.A. walking around with this on instead of a Nike cap like everyone else, but do I care? No.” “Normally, I love Cypress, but I'll take this Fig candle by Diptyque because it reminds me of the scent that used to be diffused in Colette [in Paris] when I worked there—so many funny memories!”Linlee Allen's eBay Wish List
