Saucy Glossie: Gorgeous and Glam

Lindsey Calla, aka Saucie Glossie
As first person style blogs—where young ladies take pictures of themselves in various self-styled ensembles—proliferate, a few are setting themselves apart from the pack. Our favorites feature magazine-worthy photography, a conversational yet polished tone and a real fashion point of view (e.g. they're not just walking advertisements for brands that send them clothes). A gorgeous protagonist doesn't hurt, either.
Lindsey Calla’s Saucy Glossie checks all of these boxes and then some.

When Calla was serving as a fashion assistant at Cosmopolitan magazine, she styled and starred in a fashion story on her personal take on chic on the cheap. The editors loved her and so did Cosmo readers. So launching her own site was no brainer. “I wanted to get involved in the digital media movement,” she told us.
While Calla is still experimenting with a host of different looks—boho one day, super polished the next—she has an innate sense of what looks good together and, most importantly, on her. And she just as artfully mixes high and low, which is a huge draw for her fans. On Saucy Glossie, she mixes personal fashion photos (many shot in New York's Central Park) with workout tips and even the occasional DIY interior design project.

The Inside Source caught up with her in between posts….
The Inside Source: Putting pictures of yourself out there for everyone to see (and comment on) is no easy feat. What inspires you?
Lindsey Calla: I'm really inspired by art and architecture. Researching and finding great locations to shoot at has become my favorite part of the blogging process! It's no different than when people post pictures of themselves on Facebook publicly, but with my blog, I have control over the image I want to put out there. It's a great platform to showcase your talent or to convey a strong message that is unique to you.
The Inside Source: Describe your personal fashion style.
Lindsey Calla: Lately I have been trying to practice more control and have been buying more classic, timeless pieces. I went through a phase where I wanted to be really trendy and throw everything on at once, but now I feel more mature, elegant, and classic. One thing that hasn't changed is my obsession for finding great deals and putting fashion looks together on a budget and making them look really expensive.

The Inside Source: Favorite fashion designers?
Lindsey Calla: Cynthia Steffe, Adam, and I just saw a few items from Ivanka Trump's handbag and shoe line and I love it! Very elegant yet affordable! Cynthia Vincent and, of course, I love High Street stores like Zara and Banana Republic!
The Inside Source: One or two things you probably buy too much of?
Lindsey Calla: Hats! I have an obsession with hats lately and keep buying more and more. It's my favorite fashion accessory and I have so many in all different shapes and sizes. I feel like a great hat always takes an outfit to a whole different level.

The Inside Source: Do you ever shop eBay for inspiration?
Lindsey Calla: Yes, I actually love browsing around vintage hats and furniture. It's more for inspiration because I'm not a huge vintage buyer unless I see something really beyond amazing. Or if there is a certain trend or time period that has come back into style, I'll search to get ideas on how to wear it.
The Inside Source: What was the first item you won on eBay?
Lindsey Calla: Hmmm…. I don't think I have! I search a lot and casually bid but I haven't won anything yet. I see that changing in the very near future, though, as I've been in the market to buy more items lately.
