Paper + Pictures
The Inside Source has relied on Amy Flurry practically since its inception almost two years ago. Flurry, a veteran freelance writer, churns out a constant stream of imaginative ideas that culminate in the beautiful prose you read here. While the rest of us tend to default to New York and L.A. for inspiration, this Atlanta-based writer delivers stories from the American South, from cookbook authors to country duos and more. While we've always known Flurry was wildly creative, little did we realize that her art extended beyond the written word. But when we caught a glimpse of Paper-Cut-Project, the exquisite paper sculptures she was creating for brands like Jeffrey and Hermes, we begged her to tell her story first-hand.—The Editors

Paper-Cut-Project began on a whim when my friend Nikki Salk and I kicked around ideas for styling a theoretical window display. Both of us shared a love of fashion and the fantasy in storytelling as it played out in campaigns, fashion runway productions and magazine spreads, and in late fall of 2009, decided to act on this fancy.
Our signature, we decided, would be paper, and our approach an antidote to the ubiquity of mass-production in fashion styling. That next month, we installed our first collection of paper wigs on the mannequins of pioneering fashion boutique, Jeffrey NY and Jeffrey Atlanta.

Fast-forward 18 months and Salk, a blogger and artist who had worked in the medium since college, and I have all but re-fashioned our own professional lives, with commissions from Hermès and Cartier and an upcoming feature in Italian Vogue.
Our shapes in paper are constructed one cut at a time, each piece different from the last. This week, our latest collection debuts in the windows of Kate Spade NY's retail boutique alongside pieces from the line’s Lillian Bassman capsule collection, a grouping of handbags printed with images by the renowned 20th century photographer.
Our paper wig designs were inspired by the windswept model in Bassman’s famed photograph, “A Touch of Dew.” Here, a few links to sources of inspiration on eBay!
