We spotted a sea of high-end denim on a winter weekend in Houston, but these stand-outs only proved that unique style is truly in the genes. We love how these trendsetters layer basics with an edge, from preppy-pretty to street kid-chic.

1. Aly Berry, visuals/sales at Anthropologie, 26 (above, left)

Where: Window shopping in Highland Village after leaving work

What She's Wearing: Cotton tee and boyfriend jacket from Anthropologie, Chip & Pepper jeans, Marc Jacobs flats, Mellie Biacoo bag, Neckaces: Madewell, Forever 21 and handmade from an old lobster clasp and friendship bracelet
