eBay Mobile Boutique: Atlanta Street Style

Big beats, a new satellite campus of the Savannah College of Art and Design, and a slew of new boutiques are changing this Southern capital's antiquated image. In honor of the eBay mobile boutique's stop in Atlanta on November 23rd and 24th, we went from Buckhead to Inman Park to the cool industrial Westside in order to track down stylish locals and ask where they shop and what inspires their style.

Nikki Salk, The Fashion Gatherer Blogger

What She’s Wearing: a Basso & Brooke dress, J. Crew footless tights, Devi Kroell shoes and a ring by Noir Jewelry.

About The Dress: “I fell hard for this dress. It reminded me of the stars at night with Mars coming out in red.”

Akeem Agard, student at Morehouse College

What He’s Wearing: a hat by Paulies, an Urban Outfitters shirt, True Religion jeans, a J. Lindeberg belt and Timberland boots.

Favorite Store: “Vinnie's Styles opened a little over a year ago in Little Five Points and won me over with their house brand, Paulies. They also have exclusives on other well-made urban labels like Blood, Sweat & Tears.”

Mali Azima, photographer

What She’s Wearing: a Portolano hat, a jacket by Theory, a shirt and jeans from American Apparel and Diesel brand sneakers.

Her Personal Style: “American Apparel’s styles are cool, functional and washable, which is good for photo shoots like the one I just wrapped up, for keeping up with my two-year-old. A big hat is a necessity because I get frequent head colds during the humid Georgia winters.”

Rachel Wertz and Rebecca Formichella, fashion design students at the Savannah College of Art and Design

What They’re Wearing:

On Rachel: a vintage dress, tights and a vest from Target, a scarf from Anthropologie, Miss Me shoes and a ring from ShopSCAD boutique.

On Rebecca: a Common Threads dress, a vintage belt and Rolex watch, Tory Burch shoes

Favorite Shopping Haunts: cool vintage shops and antique stores for special items like unique jewelry and over-sized scarves.

Saiid Shamsuddin, store manager at Bill Hallman Studio

What He’s Wearing: Oliver Peoples glasses, a sweater from Eubiq NY, an Alternative Apparel Bill Hallman pants, Happy Socks and shoes from To Boot New York.

His Personal Style: “I lean toward classic pieces that are styled with an edge—think a more casual version of Thom Browne's clothing. But for unique statement numbers, I hit Value Village thrift store in Decatur, where I recently scored an oversized Aztec print cardigan for ten bucks.”

Brittan Ota, competitive ballroom dancer

What She’s Wearing: an H&M jacket, a Target skirt, Capezio tights and leotard and shoes by Deena & Ozzy.

Her Personal Style: “I tend to reach for clothes that can transition from the dance studio to the street. I find a lot of great pieces like that at Cherry Bomb boutique in Little Five Points.”

Mychael Knight, designer

What He’s Wearing: a vintage suit and John Fluevog sneakers

His Style Obsession: “I’m a sneaker freak. I hit Laces Up on Edgewood Avenue and Rare Footage in East Atlanta for their exclusive styles. But the ones I’m wearing here are from a shop in Chicago. I saw them and had to have them. I didn’t even look at the price.”

Dullah Taseb, sales associate at Barneys Co-op

What He’s Wearing: a Rag & Bone sweater, Prada pants, a v-neck from American Apparel and Cole Haan loafers

Where He Shops:  “Phipps Plaza mall houses many of my favorites, including Barneys Co-op and Theory, which I personally believe are among the best tailored brands out there.”

Callie DeVore, publicist

What She’s Wearing: a Michael Stars shirt, a Nanette Lepore skirt, Spanx tights, a Love Quotes scarf, Madewell boots, and vintage jewelry

Her Shopping Haunts: “I love boutique shopping as much as I love a bargain, so I stalk the sales at Tootsies and Luna, both in Buckhead. And I inherited my love of costume jewelry from my grandmother, who left me bags and bags of it. I recently made a cameo pin into a ring and necklace pieces into earrings!”

Denise Disharoon, jewelry designer

What She’s Wearing: a KZ Jersey dress, La Perla hosiery, Biviel boots and her own jewelry designs.

Her Closet Staples: My wardrobe is filled with solid colors so the accessories stand out, especially the jewelry!  I always find great fitting dresses with interesting and flattering cuts at Rhinoceros boutique in Buckhead.”
