KISS Customizes MINIS for a Father's Day eBay Charity Auction

Kiss Mini KISS (that’s right, the leather clad, blood spewing, pyrotechnically inclined rock band) has partnered with MINI and eBay to create a very unique Father’s Day charity auction with proceeds going to UNICEF to help the children of Japan and around the world.  The charity auction, running through June 8, gives KISS fans, MINI fans, philanthropists, and eccentric collectors everywhere a chance to win one of four custom-made KISS/MINI Countryman cars. The cars' designs, which are graphic but relatively understated, were inspired by the iconic, comic- book- styled stage characters of each of the four original band members, who will also autograph each KISS collectible vehicle in the charity auction: The Starman (Paul Stanley), The Demon (Gene Simmons), The Catman (Peter Criss) and The Spaceman (Ace Frehley.)

We spoke to Gene Simmons, founding member of KISS and master of KISS stage theatrics, to find out how the tiny MINI united with the huge personalities of KISS. He explained, “MINIs are simply cool. They have their own unique style and they don’t look like any other car. They’re very KISS.” When the band was informed that the proceeds from the auction would be donated to UNICEF and the people of Japan, “We immediately committed,” Gene Simmons said. “Japan has always meant a lot to KISS. We played there in 1977 and broke the Beatles’ attendance record at Tokyo’s Budokan arena.” We hope some of that record-breaking mojo touches this very special eBay auction.
