Trendspotting with Celebrity Style Expert Jaye Hersh

Jaye Hersh singlehandedly caused America's crazed infatuation with celebrity style. Ok, maybe that's a slight exaggeration, but it's true that just about a decade ago, when the celebrity weeklies were just starting to hit their stride (and we all started to shop not according to what the sales clerk at the stores suggested, but what the latest starlet was wearing), Jaye opened Intuition, a tucked away boutique on West Pico Boulevard. And the celebrities started flocking. Why? Because this unassuming store, with its fantastically savvy owner, consistenty carried the "it" items that were guaranteed to keep them winning in the notoriously competitive Hollywood fashion came. Not surprisingly, where the celebrs went, the paparazzi followed. And where there is paparazzi, there are pictures in the glossies. Soon, the public was shopping at Intuition alongside the stars, and to this day, Intuition remains a favorite shopping destination for leading ladies and those who just want to dress like them.

Over the years, Hersh has expanded the Intuition empire, launching a rock solid website, writing a book, and collaborating with Target on a fashion line. Her keen eye for trendspotting has made her a sought after style expert, who has dressed everyone from Jennifer Aniston to Jessica Alba to most of “The Hills” and “The City” casts. Based on what her celeb clientele is clamoring for now, we asked her about the hottest trends in Hollywood and how we can get our hands on them immediately.

"Patterned tights are a chic new way to instantly update your favorite cocktail dress for the holidays. Introduce the trend into your wardrobe by starting with a great pair of black patterned tights, and wear them with an ankle boot or an over-the-knee boot."

“Leopard and cat prints are always a fashionista favorite. But to make the look current, my star clients are going for bold, almost neon colors like bright pink and turquoise. A leopard top is the perfect go-to option for a last minute date top. It works well with your favorite jeans or a pair of black sexy pants."

"Sequin boyfriend blazers are great for the holidays! Pair them with understated pieces like your favorite worn-in jeans or a menswear-inspired button down to keep the look effortlessly celeb-worthy as opposed to Vegas showgirl.”

“Nothing says sophisticated and stylish better than nudish hues, especially in winter. Complete the look with darker accessories or tights and chunky jewelry to keep the look appropriate for the winter months, and then break it out with metallic flip flops in summer."

"Short bombers are the newest leather jacket style. Wear one at night with a hint of a flirty top or dress peaking out of the bottom of the jacket. I also love pairing my worn out leather jacket with a great pair of black satin trousers."
