What the Fashion World is Wearing Now

Even in during the coldest days of winter, the buyers, editors and trend-trackers who attend New York Fashion Week know how to dress. This year, it was all about looking chic and practical at the same time. Paris Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld wore a sleek chocolate brown wool topper throughout the week, while Anna dello Russo, Fashion Director at large for Vogue Nippon, kept warm in a rotating selection of outerwear, including a bright pink fur coat. Here's how to get the the top off-the-runway looks.

Leather Leggings and Pants

They may seem hard to pull off, but as long as you avoid a country western look (no plaid shirts) and anything to skin-tight on top, you can think of them as the next iteration of the legging trend that is going absolutely nowhere. One woman told us her buttery grey leather leggings were not only comfortable, but they were also very warm.

1. Diane von Furstenberg Black Leather Leggings (buy it now price, $449.99) The great thing about this pair is that the waist is made of comfortable ribbed knit.

2. Joie Leather Leggings in Grey (winning bid, $407.88) Pebble grey was the favored shade of leather at Fashion Week.

3. Ellen Tracy Black Krinkled Leather Pants (starting bid, $59.99) This pleated style is perfect for those who want to push the envelope.

Whether you prefer real or fake, there's no doubting fur is more popular than ever amongst the stylish set. Fur accents and this past fall's ubiquitous fur vest have given way to full-on fur coats that are cropped or mid-length.(Leave the long coats to Grandma on theater night.)

1. Vintage Mink Fur Coat (sold for, $299.99) The cut and collar of this coat lend it an authentic vintage appeal.

2. Iceberg Fur Trim Coat (buy it now price, $458.75) This mushroom-colored puffer is eskimo-inspired.

3. Max Mara Cashmere Wrap Coat with Fox Fur Collar (buy it now price, $249.99) The wrap coat—another big trend—made more luxurious with a bit of fox fur.

The maxi skirt is finally back. We're seeing them in solid colors, with high-waisted cuts and paired with low-cut shoes or boots.

1. Country Road Wool Blend Long Skirt (buy it now price, $38.42) Embrace the Americana-meets-equestrian trend and pair with an oxford blue button down and riding boots.

2. Ralph Lauren Navy Worsted Wool Skirt (sold for, $18) Wear with a pair of lace-up brogues for a spin on traditional menswear.

3. Liz Claiborne Natural Wool Blend Skirt (buy it now price, $29.99) For those who love the Navajo trend, this piece is an ideal wardrobe addition.
