LEGO-mania: Coming to a City Near You

Lego KidsFest

The LEGO KidsFest Tour is sweeping the country, causing a sensation among kids (and parents too). When the Tour stops in your city, it brings along "Construction Zones" filled with the little colored bricks, challenging tykes to build their best LEGO creations. There are life-size LEGO characters depicting Harry Potter, Clone Troopers, Batman and Indiana Jones, next to which kids have their photos snapped, along with all sorts of other almost conference-like events, from LEGO Trivia to Master Builder Tips & Tricks.

Of course, there are plenty of LEGO sets for sale too. Yes, you pay to get in and play. Then you pay to take more homealthough if you're there in the first place, it's likely your playroom is already about to burst with mini-figures, stray wheels, and fake trees. But the kids are thrilled and you're happy they're exercising their fine-motor skills and imaginations.

LEGO KidsFest hits Chicago at the end of the month, Hartford, Connecticut in early December, and on to Atlanta, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles next year. Check out some images from the festivities.

Then start honing your LEGO building skillsand growing your LEGO collectionwith some of these ideas from eBay, where LEGOs are always a major item: There are currently over 116,000 listings with the term "LEGO" on eBay. Moreover, perhaps due in part to the LEGO-mania inspired by the current KidsFest Tour, listings with the term "LEGO" are up 34 percent and sales are up 11 percent in the past week vs. a week-long period approximately a year ago.
