Fashion Week Accessories Report
So far, so good. That’s how most editors are feeling about New York Fashion Week. Within the first few days, there were some pretty easy-to-spot style trends. (Hello, luxury, our old friend. We’re so glad you also brought plaid fashion trends to the party.) There’s still a faint strain of spring’s '70s tune being played this season, too. Where it’s showing up the most? The style accessories, especially the boots and hats. That said, luxury is also making a run for your Fall 2011 accessories budget, which means investing in fur—even for your feet—and trendy leather bags, which have been looking expensive, but happily, seasonless.

Stacked heel knee high boots and cool little ankle booties (like successors to the Chelsea boot) made a major fashion runway statement. But don’t just go in for black and brown. Think color, too.

Yes, they’re back. But rather than looking like something that fell off the “not good '70s” pile, ponchos and oversized throws look both modern and warm. And in most cases, more downtown cool than thrifty hippie.
