Clutch Around the Clock
Designers are holding on to the clutch, in incarnations from straightforward to silly, small to supersized. We chose options for day and night.
Clutches for Day
Though a clutch may not seem the most practical choice (especially if you’re like me and schlep much more than needed), do not disregard its use during sunshine hours. All you need to consider as to where at clutch truly has daytime hour appeal is its shape—the more structured (either ladylike or menswear-inspired), the more appropriate it will be. Look to the two-tone at Hermes style, the houndstooth at Yves Saint Laurent and the suede at Miu Miu for inspiration.

Clutches for Night
Traditionally, the clutch is most at home after the sun sets. So in the evening hours, it's time to let go (even if you're a clutch!). Ditch the conservative and go for crazy. Experiment with boho-chic (a la Fendi's cabachon-adorned clutches), punk (see the fetish style at Louis Vuitton) or grown-up luxe (like Prada's oversized version, in fall's favorite colored snakeskin).
