The 10 Best Looks from Fashion Week, Part 2

Yesterday, we brought you five of our favorite looks from the spring 2012 collections. Today, we bring the count up to 10, with five additional (and equally unforgettable) ensembles. Today’s selections lean towards the dressier end of the spectrum, but are in no way limited to evening only.

LOOK 1: Marc Jacobs

Why We Love It: Jacobs' spring collection was a playful combination of flapper and the future, and we’re gleefully intrigued. While it may be difficult to find a cellophane sheen version of his gingham/buffalo check fabrics, we still love the idea of dressing up such a typically casual plaid.

LOOK 2: Prabal Gurung

Why We Love It: Gurung’s entire collection was one of the most inventive of the season. His use of unique prints and fabric treatments as well as his fearless mix of classic and modern silhouettes worked especially well in this dress, which combines a pleated A-line skirt with a tough shell top. The bold metallic purple on top seems to wash and drip into the folds of the skirt. (And let’s not forget that the skirt slit was huge for spring.)

LOOK 3: Christian Dior

Why We Love It: In comparison to many of the avant garde styles we saw on the runways, this chiffon vintage-inspired dress is perhaps not the most revolutionary of styles. Nevertheless, we love it for its bold color and perfect tailoring. If you haven’t played with color these past few seasons there’s still time to invest in one amazing, vibrant dress. Even paired with matching red shoes and lipstick it’s not overbearing.

LOOK 4: BCBG

Why We Love It: Color blocking has been a recurring runway trends for several seasons now. For spring, many designers used a combination of tribal influences and black trim to keep the trend invigorated. BCBG used color blocking almost exclusively on the runway and we like the versatility of the bold color mixed with neutrals, as well as the diaphanous fabric that is perfect for day or night.

New Sass & Bide Dress
(buy it now price, $462.71)
New Tory Burch Beaded Sandal
(buy it now price, $329.99)
New Cynthia Vincent Sandals

LOOK 5: Lanvin

Why We Love It: Those of us tempted to try spring's sheer trend will be walking a fine line between stylish and skanky. Stay on the chic side with this swishy Lanvin dress paired with earthy sandals and a tough statement necklace. The pretty raspberry hue will suit just about any skin tone.

New Casadei Sandal
(buy it now price, $249)
Modernist Medallion Necklace
(buy it now price, $199)
