Bringing Fashion Home
We can’t get enough of the incredible array of prints that swarmed the fashion runways for spring. But now that we've mastered the look with our wardrobes, we decided to explore three runway favorites and consider how to interpret them for the home, where we can spend time with them everyday.
Rodarte's Cobalt Glaze

Our first choice comes from design duo Rodarte, who looked to intricate Ming porcelain designs from China to create stunning blue and white patterns that also drew from traditional French toile prints. The delicate design lines in combination with the strong contrast between blue and white lends these traditional patterns a universal appeal that is fresh but timeless. While the fashion look is undoubtedly perfect for summer dressing, a blue and white interior piece brings instant elegance and femininity to the home.

Stella McCartney's Juicy Fruit

Stella McCartney presented several spring runway fashion looks boasting a bold fruit pattern, and we suddenly found ourselves wanting to wear something that transported us back to a 1970’s kitchen, albeit a very cool one. But because McCartney’s cuts are so completely modern, she keeps the kitsch factor far from her fashion designs. With that in mind we sought to find pieces for the home that took fruit literally, but still playfully and with a sophisticated edge.

Louis Vuitton Earns Its Stripes

In fashion, animal prints crop into the fashion trend pool nearly every season. But when Marc Jacobs used zebra exclusively for a whopping eleven looks in his Spring Louis Vuitton collection, it was impossible not to notice. Using bold colors, sequins, satin and chiffon, Jacobs was unrestrained in his use of zebra prints for glamorous floor length gowns and luxurious separates. It can be difficult to find zebra, especially faux, that doesn’t feel a tad tacky. So we stuck to traditional tones and patterns and clean lines that will bode well in a variety of interior spaces. Even the smallest addition can make a graphic impact within your home.
