eBay Seller Story:
Bustown Modern
As a teen, when Anessa Wood couldn't find the vintage styles she coveted at local thrift shops, she turned to shopping on eBay.
Throughout college, she sold clothes and furniture on eBay to help pay the bills. (Her fourth grade teacher had impressed Wood early on, teaching her about the benefits of reuse, and Wood saw eBay as a platform to engage those values while bringing in some cash for things she no longer had use for.)
After quitting her job in merchandising for American Apparel in 2007, Wood realized what she really wanted to do for a living—selling vintage styles online had been right under her nose the whole time. Soon after, Bustown Modern was born.
Boasting a carefully curated selection of high quality retro vintage fashions, Bustown Modern specializes in classic apparel and vintage accessories from the '70s (tap pants, platform shoes, boho
sweaters) and mod '80s styles, though there are plenty of pieces from the '50s and '60s, as well as a smattering of vintage home decor. Every piece is in mint condition (Bustown Modern employs a seamstress to fix imperfections) and products are shown styled on mannequins.
