We've all heard stories of people who make it big selling on eBay. Well beyond the lucky few who find and offer up a dusty old painting from grandma's attic only to find that it's worth its weight in gold (literally) are the families who have turned to eBay to make money during challenging economic times.

eBay MoneyMakers, a new video series launching today, highlights some of those families and their inspiring stories. Take the O'Briens, featured in the video below. Shortly after Tristen and his wife moved to a new city and had a baby, Tristen lost his job. In order to make ends meet, he turned to eBay to sell household items the family was no longer using. Eventually, he got more strategic (he'd check out clearance items at big box retailers and use his mobile phone to see if he could make a profit by buying the items and selling them on eBay) and grew his eBay business. He ultimately got his job back, but the entrepreneurial family continues to sell on eBay as a source of extra income.
