eBay Launches Give-a-Toy Store

The eBay Give-a-Toy Store in New York
This holiday season, eBay is all about putting the "shop" in window shopping. First, the online marketplace partnered with celebrated designer Jonathan Adler to launch the eBay Inspiration Shop, a grouping of shoppable windows featuring items chosen by a variety of tastemakers. All you had to do was download the eBay Mobile App and scan the QR code posted in the window, and you could shop for similar items to those on display.

This week, in the spirit of the season, eBay is applying that same technology to allow people to shop in the name of charity via donation to Toys for Tots. The just-launched eBay Give-a-Toy Stores in New York and San Francisco work much like their predecessor: Dynamic window displays feature classic toys (think teddy bears and tin soldiers) with virtual price tags that represent different donation levels from $2 to $25. Passersby can use the eBay Mobile App to scan custom QR codes posted on the price tags to automatically make a donation in the amount listed. Every time a donation is made, the windows "come to life" as the animated toys celebrate and offer their thanks.
For folks not in NY or San Fran, there's an online option for making a donation, too. Click here to check it out.
