Dear Santa: Tory Burch's Holiday Give and Get List
Our Series on What Today's Top Stylemakers Plan to Give—and Hope to Get!—for the Holidays
This holiday, Tory Burch is taking a much-deserved break. In 2010, she showed collections for five seasons, opened more than 20 new Tory Burch boutiques in the U.S., Asia and Europe and formally launched a collection benefiting domestic microfinance through the Tory Burch Foundation. Not to mention, she was #44 on Vanity Fair’s Best Dressed list, #4 on its Next Establishment list and, earlier this month, her signature Tory Bruch Reva Flats, in gray flannel, were featured on Oprah’s Ultimate Favorite Things free-for-all. Oh yeah, and she’s Tweeted the whole way.
“Our family loves the holidays,” Tory Burch told The Inside Source. “We get our tree the first week of December and decorate it with new and vintage ornaments that we’ve collected.” The consummate hostess, Burch fills her holidays with great food, drinks and “of course, festive music is essential—anything by Bing Crosby.” Her favorite? The crooner’s famous “Little Drummer Boy” duet with David Bowie. But don’t take our word for it. Just read the Tory Burch blog, featuring her Tastemakers’ and Foodies’ Guides to the Holidays, where everyone from TV Top Chef’s Padma Lakshmi to real top chefs Eric Ripert and Mario Batali to Jimmy Choo’s Tamara Mellon and Gloria Vanderbilt dish on their favorite entertaining tips and recipe ideas for all those holiday parties.
Tory Burch Resort and Foundation Collections
This year, fashion designer Tory Burch will round out the season on a trip to Mexico with her three sons, her mother Reva (the inspiration behind those recognizable logo flats) and her two brothers and their families. “The boys are very excited to surf, fish and snorkel.”
She’ll need the R&R. Tory Burch has big plans for 2011. She plans on opening even more Tory Burch boutiques in Asia, along with a much-anticipated uptown Manhattan spot on Madison Avenue. Also look out for the Tory Burch fragrance and home collection.
Another high priority is growing the Tory Burch Foundation. Launched in 2009 in partnership with Accion USA, it empowers women in the U.S. through microfinance. “Women are able to start and grow their own businesses, from an organic food restaurant to a shredding company,” she said. She recently hosted a successful mentoring event, pairing up entrepreneurs with industry leaders.
Tory Burch also created a dedicated Foundation collection. 100% of the proceeds from these bracelets, scarves, keychains and more go to the Tory Burch Foundation, making them holiday gifts that do good, stylishly. “One of my favorite pieces is the Foundation Pendant, which is based on a sunflower pendant my father had made for his mother,” she told us.
Burch also has some other chic and unique Christmas gifts—to give and receive—on her holiday wish list.
