Wedding Season: Parisian Chic in Grosse Pointe

In our ongoing wedding series, The Inside Source talks to yet another trend-setting bride—this time, a New York-based fashion editor who’s getting ready to walk down the aisle with her book publishing beau in their Michigan hometown—to hear all about the details and inspiration going into their big day.
Who They Are: Lynette Pone, senior fashion editor at Lucky Magazine, to Jordan McIntyre, a founder and editor of a small book publishing company called The Crumpled Press and the educational program manager at the Police Athletic League.
How The Met: “At a concert at the Bowery Ballroom. He recognized me—we had actually gone to 2nd grade together!”
The Proposal: “I had been away in Mexico for work, and when I came home he was acting a little weird. We ended up taking a walk through Central Park when he proposed. He said just in case if we ever left New York he wanted to do it somewhere we could always go back to. Then we had drinks and dinner at the Oak Room.”
The Mood: “I approached it without any sort of theme, and just started thinking about things I really like. And now it’s sort of evolved into a hodgepodge French garden party. There are old timey elements as well: I chose mercury glass for all the candleholders and vases, and instead of the usual guest book, I’m using a bunch of vintage New York and Michigan postcards I bought on eBay!”
The Palette: “Cream and yellow with light pink and silver accents.”
The Location: “The ceremony is at Jordan’s church in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, and the reception is at the Detroit Athletic Club in downtown Detroit. The space has an old French feel, with lots of gilded mirrors and pretty moldings.”
She’s Wearing: “Vera Wang. It’s a little Grecian—very flowy and drapey. It has an asymmetrical top done in a really light chiffon that hangs off the shoulders and gathers at the waist with grosgrain ribbon. I’m wearing Jimmy Choo snakeskin ankle strap heels in cream and grey. My earrings are antique silver embedded with tiny crystals and I’m wearing a vintage bracelet I found an antique show in the Hamptons.”
He’s Wearing: “A slim charcoal grey three-piece suit from J. Crew. And a white shirt and a black Hugo Boss tie.”
The Flowers: “Peonies, wildflowers, anemones, and lilacs in light pink, lavender, and fuchsia.”
The Favors: “We’re making books for everyone—little handsewn journals tied with cream twice with brown paper pages.”
The Menu: “It’s sort of a surf and turf, with a petite filet and scallops, plus beans and roasted potatoes, and a mixed green salad with dried cherries.”
The Playlist: “We want everyone to have a really good time, and music is key. We’re doing a combination of dance stuff, Motown in honor of Detroit, and a little Sinatra for the older crowd.”
Here, a taste of Pone’s vintage inspiration for her big day:

1. Vintage New York City Greetings Postcard (from $.99) and 2. Vintage Detroit, Michican Postcard (from $.99) “For our guest book, we've collected a bunch of vintage postcards from New York, where we live, and Detroit, where we grew up. Our idea is to have each guest/couple write a wish or sentiment on the postcard. After the wedding Jordan is going to bind them all together to make our own one-of-a-kind keepsake.”
3. Vintage Diamond Cut Mercury Glass Candle Holder (buy it now price, $14.99) “We will be using all mercury glass for our candle holders and flower vases. I love the glow that the silver glass gives off in a room.”
4. Genuine Antique Victorian Silver Paste Earrings (buy it now price, $408.63) “Oh, I just love these earrings! I am wearing a bracelet just like these!”
5. Vintage Wagner & Sons Mini Tea Canisters (buy it now price, $22.27) “Since our wedding has a vintage feel to it, I thought that old tin tea containers would be perfect to hold all of the little odds and ends; i.e. pens for our postcards, mustaches for our photo booth and straws for our drinks.”
6. Vintage Pocket Watch Style Compass (starting bid, $14.58) “Jordan will be wearing his Grandfather's WWI compass, pocket-watch style. For him it symbolizes a positive direction in life.”
7. NEW Mayle Ivory Trapeze “Pina” Dress (buy it now price, $224) “This dress epitomizes the vibe of our wedding. The shortness gives it a casualness we love, the eyelet represents the girlie side and the lace-up part in the front gives the classic vintage feeling we are going for.”
What’s on Pone’s fantasy eBay registry:

1. 1960 Ford Mini Anglia Micro Escort (current bid, $6,100) “This car is adorable! Totally better than a giant SUV and perfectly practical for parking in NYC!”
2. NEW KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer (buy it now price, $349.99) “I have a secret love of baking and would love to master the art!”
3. Vintage Tablecloth (buy it now price, $24.99) “I collect vintage floral and stripe napkins and tablecloths. I love mixing the two together. This tablecloth would be perfect for an outdoor dinner party.”
4. Wooden Letter Press Type (current bid, $137.50) “Jordan’s dream is to one day have his own vintage letterpress machine. With apartment space constraints, collecting type will have to do for now.”
5. Art Deco Christofle Gallia Silver Tea Set (winning bid, $179.50) “How chic would it be to serve coffee in this?”
6. Vintage Crystal Chandelier (starting bid, $79.99) “I love using chandeliers in small spaces. Jordan and I are moving to a new apartment soon and would love to hang this in our hallway.”
