Stylist Secrets: Joey Tierney

You may not be aware of it, but you know Joey Tierney’s style. The celeb super-stylist, who started by dressing Britney Spears’ backup dancers in 2001 and quickly moved on to dressing Spears herself socially during the singer's Dream Within a Dream tour, can now be found styling starlets like reality TV star Audrina Partridge, Desperate Housewives and Dexter actress Julie Benz and My Name Is Earl actress Jaime Pressly for the red carpet while working on magazine shoots, commercials and album covers—meaning, you’ve seen her work all over the place.

In between styling a promo for The Hills, the cover of Health magazine featuring Pressly, and a music video for Jaron (formerly of the twin singing duo Evan and Jaron)—not to mention blogging at Haute Street Daily—Tierney showed us how to translate her cool, red-carpet style to the real world, using eBay.

“Audrina loves to wear edgy, body conscious little dresses, like this one by Mason, which is one of her favorite labels. I love the cut-outs that provide sexy little flashes of skin. She a heels girl, so I put her in sky-high Christian Louboutin white snakeskin pumps. Her clutch is by Alexander McQueen. When Audrina was getting ready for this event, I couldn’t be with her because I was styling a magazine shoot, so we chose the outfit via picture messaging on our phones. She would try on a look and send it to me, and then I’d tweak it until we got it just right.”

“Jaime has an extensive vintage Chanel collection, so I often add a touch of Chanel to her ensembles. In this case, this vintage double C Chanel necklace was the perfect accent to her slouchy Helmut Lang dress. Navy is Jaime’s favorite color to wear, and since navy and black is a very of-the-moment color combination, we chose strappy black Pierre Hardy heels. I think this look is very chic for daytime, and can be pulled off by anyone.”
