“I'm just one of those people who was born to play music,” says Lindsay 'Coco' Hames who sings and plays guitar in Nashville-based rock band, The Ettes, along with Maria 'Poni' Silver, Jeremy 'Jem' Cohen and Johnny 'Shoulders' Caulfield.

For the past year, The Ettes have toured with The Dead Weather, Metric and Parting Gifts. They've played Lollapalooza, Gonerfest and Austin City Limits. The denim-clad Rock N' Roll quartet has just returned from London, where the group recorded its fourth studio LP with The White Stripes' producer Liam Watson. The Ettes' new album will be out in Spring 2011. Coco Hames describes the sound of The Ettes as a “Joe Meek, psychedelic barn dance beat punk freak out.”

Of all the places she tours, Hames says she loves Spain for the food and England for the music, but her favorite is traveling across America. “It's a lot of work, but we have such good friends in so many places. Most of the time, it's like a constant vacation. If, you know, vacations did not entail sleep or any kind of relaxation.”

In between The Ettes tour dates, Hames fits in quite a bit of eBay shopping. Right now she is looking for a car and figures, as she's on the road, she can widen her search and pick up from nearly anywhere. Hames uses eBay to buy musical instruments, vintage records, boots, coats and homewares. "I search for very specific things,” like Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood and Isabel Marant, "I am very patient."

From eBay, Hames has picked up a striped bodysuit to wear to the band's premiere of "Whip It." (The Ettes song "Crown of Age" is on the soundtrack). And in the spring, she bought a pair of skeleton leggings. "If it had been around Halloween, maybe I could have found them somewhere, but it wasn't. So I just searched for them on eBay and found them right away." Instant gratification!
