"Glee" returns tonight to Fox for its sophomore season. The first season hit all the right notes as New Directions, the glee club at William McKinley High School in western Ohio, belted out a mix of show tunes and pop hits, choreographed to perfection.

As much as we love the song and dance (and it seems everyone does, since the show has spawned three number one albums on the Billboard charts and 1.8 million iTunes downloads), we adore the cast of misfits and their personal style; from Goth-girl Tina Cohen-Chang’s fingerless gloves to the nylon swish of Sue Sylvester’s red tracksuit.

“Glee does an amazing job of embracing personal style and giving kids an outlet to express themselves,” says celebrity stylist Katharine Polk. “High school can be cruel, but 'Glee' really promotes self esteem. I’m a huge fan of that [concept]."

1. Button down Spanish teacher and glee club director Mr. Schuester’s look with this knit waistcoat.

2. Teen mom Quinn Fabray’s blonde tresses are always perfectly pinned in place. This barrette would up the style quotient.

4. New Directions' primadonna. Rachel Berry, often stalks the school’s corridors in a tartan skirt and prim cardigan.

5. Wheelchair-bound Artie Abrams' signature look is his black-framed glasses. These Tom Ford ones would suit a single man.

6. New Direction’s soprano and style maven, Kurt Hummel often tops off his look with a hat. We’re sure he’d make it work in this tweed trilby.

7. Sue Sylvester, director of the Cheerios cheer squad, could menace Mr. Schuester in the hallways of William McKinley High School in this zip-up sport jacket.
